TMA

Telematics Monitoring Application

A cost-effective, flexible way to access Higher Mass Limits and heavy vehicle road access schemes through TCA-certified telematics.

TCA Certified

Netcorp is a TCA-Certified Telematics Provider

The Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA) program balances the needs of businesses and road managers. By enhancing both productivity and safety, TMA improves how Australian roads are accessed and utilised. Already a Netcorp customer? You may already have the technology needed — your account manager can confirm eligibility.

What is TMA?

TMA uses certified telematics hardware to monitor the minimum data points required for scheme compliance — without the full scope of the stricter Intelligent Access Program (IAP). Monitored parameters include:

  • Vehicle location
  • Time of operation
  • Vehicle identity
  • Optional features: mass monitoring via Smart OBM systems, vehicle configuration tracking

Why TMA was created

TMA stems from the April 2020 HML Notice (NSW Higher Mass Limits Declaration 2020), which gave operators two monitoring options: IAP or TMA. This followed a 2019 Transport for NSW review that concluded HML operations pose lower risk than previously assumed, thanks to ongoing infrastructure upgrades.

IAP remains required for higher-risk access in NSW and for HML operations in Queensland. TMA fills the gap for lower-risk HML operations that still need auditable evidence of compliance.

Benefits of TMA

TMA provides a structured but adaptable solution for demonstrating compliance to road managers — whether for access approval or payload requirements. A flexible entry point into managed monitoring for transport operators.

State-specific schemes

TMA underpins a range of state-based heavy vehicle access schemes. For the current list and eligibility details, refer to the official resources:
